VR studio Survios has laid off the bulk of its dev team

VR-focused studio Survios has reportedly laid off the bulk of its development team.

The Alien: Rogue Incursion and Creed: Rise to Glory developer was founded in 2013 and made a name for itself working on licensed titles.

The company, however, appears to be in dire straits. In a series of posts on LinkedIn, multiple employees claim to have been impacted by a debilitating round of job cuts.

“I was informed today that Survios as it currently stands will be essentially shuttered, with all of the team members responsible for development being let go, including myself,” reads one post from a combat designer at the studio.

“Today, I, along with the majority of the development team, was impacted by layoffs at Survios,” added a senior game designer who worked on Alien: Rogue Incursion.

Another staff member seemingly caught in the layoffs indicated the writing has been on the wall for some time. “I saw this coming a while ago. I am going to take a bit of time to re-evaluate my position in the games industry,” they added.

Survios had been attempting to expand into console and PC development. Last year, the company brought Alien: Rogue Incursion to Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, and Nintendo Switch 2 by way of an ‘Evolved Edition.’

Game Developer has reached out to Survios for comment.
