Newsbrief: Game designer Alex Oxspring and musician The Stupendium have announced a new studio, Stupendium Softworks. Per an announcement video, the studio is working on its first game, a first person survival horror title, and is invested in “sustainable” development without the use of AI tools.
“No generative AI, no wasted effort. Just strange, sincere, deeply human games made by people who care far too much,” reads a brief statement on the team’s about us page.
Oxspring has previously worked at outfits like Sumo Digital, Hitpoint Games, Firesprite, and nDreams. The Stupendium is a Youtube musician notable for “nerdcore” songs and music videos about beloved games, making this a notable creative partnership.
The pair previously collaborated on surreal dating sim OnlyCans: Thirst Date and the recent Polyarmory: High Calibre Love. The Polyarmory team is now hard at work on Stupendium’s as-yet-unnamed horror debut.
