Jackbox Games jumps feet-first into third-party publishing biz

Jackbox Party Pack developer Jackbox Games has unveiled a new division dedicated to third-party publishing. The company announced today that it would be publishing Toot Games’ My Arms Are Longer Now, and that this is the first of several games it plans to bring to market.

Toot is an Australian indie game studio helmed by former Need for Speed: No Limits game designer Matthew Jackson and webseries creator Millie Holton. Jackbox vice president of business development Andy Kniaz said in a statement that the makers of the “unapologetically weird” game are “exactly the kind of creative partner we want as we expand Jackbox’s publishing efforts.”

“Our players have asked us for a fun single-player experience in Jackbox’s tone and we look forward to seeing My Arms Are Longer Now deliver on that,” added CEO Mike Bilder.

The company’s website states that developers who do sign with Jackbox can expect the following benefits:

  • Marketing and audience development

  • Platform and certification guidance

  • QA, localization, porting, and external services

  • Long-term lifecycle planning and store management—because a game doesn’t end at launch.

Developers curious about signing with Jackbox will be thrilled to know that the company has an open solicitations portal for prospective partners, though be aware—the company does describe itself as “selective.” Interested applicants can find more information on the company website.
