Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the RPG by Sandfall Interactive, won the Big Apple Award for Best Game of the Year at the New York Game Awards.
Via a press release issued on Sunday, the New York Videogame Critics Circle recognized Clair Obscur and multiple other games during the 2026 ceremony. Games were eligible if they were released in the last calendar year.
The recognition to Clair Obscur comes a mere month after the game was selected as Game of the Year at the Game Awards. The RPG is also leading other upcoming award ceremonies, including the DICE Awards and the Game Developers Choice Awards, accruing eight nominations in each.
On contrast, the overall winners’ slate makes for quite a diverse selection. The labyrinthine puzzler Blue Prince, for example, was awarded Best Indie Game. Blippo+, a live-action TV simulator, snagged Best Writing in a Game, while the newspaper tycoon sim News Tower took home Best Hidden Game.
