Newsbrief: Bungie and PlayStation have confirmed that the upcoming extraction shooter Marathon is set to release in March 2026 at the target price of $40.
As part of the announcement on the PlayStation blog yesterday, the development team listed a number of improvements made since the alpha tests in April and May. This includes the addition of proximity chat, a solo scavenger experience called Rook, a solo runner queue, and updates to visual fidelity “across the board.”
“With huge thanks to our incredible community, we’ve been able to playtest and gather feedback to ensure that we’re building Marathon with our players in mind,” reads the announcement, which is credited to Marathon’s global community lead Andy Salisbury.
The news comes six months after Bungie delayed the game, which initially targeted a September 23 release. This was due to a tumultuous reception of the closed alpha in May, which consisted largely of negative feedback.
