Newsbrief: The latest entry in EA’s long-running Battlefield series is already breaking records for the franchise.
According to a press release distributed by EA, Battlefield 6‘s October 10 launch weekend marked “the biggest opening ever” for the Battlefield franchise, with 7 million copies sold within the first three days of its release.
Additionally, the milestone comes paired with another broken record. EA says that, in addition to garnering 172 million online matches and 15 million hours viewed on streaming services in that same three-day window, Battlefield 6 has already set a franchise-wide record for concurrent players, though the exact record-breaking number hasn’t been disclosed.
“Battlefield 6 was built with our fans,” reads a statement from Battlefield GM Byron Beede crediting the massive launch to a community-collaborative development cycle. “From the initial concept through to the implementation of Battlefield Labs and into the record-shattering Open Beta, we have been obsessed with player feedback. Together, with our players we’ve had a singular goal: to craft the best Battlefield ever.”
