Nintendo is preparing to tweak the price of the original Nintendo Switch in Canada.
In a brief announcement, the company explained the price of Switch devices and products will be changed “based on market conditions.”
That means the Nintendo Switch OLED Model, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite will all be handed new price tags alongside console accessories and software. The Switch 2 won’t be impacted by the move.
It’s currently unclear what those price alterations will look like, but Nintendo has confirmed it will share more information on August 1, 2025.
The news comes months after Nintendo delayed Switch 2 pre-orders in Canada because of tariff uncertainty caused by U.S. president Donald Trump, which caused similar delays in the United States.
At the time, Nintendo said it needed to “assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions” before opening pre-orders. It eventually allowed consumers in the country to pre-order the Switch 2 on April 24 and confirmed the console wouldn’t receive a price hike.
The Nintendo Switch currently retails for CAD $399 in Canada. The Switch OLED Model and Switch Lite cost $449.99 and $259.99, respectively.
